Tora! Tora! Tora! On December 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked unexpectedly by the Imperial Japanese air force. World War II had begun for the sleeping giant this date. Until December 7th, the giant had been content to pick at our own collective navel lint since 1919.
Pearl Harbor shocked the nation and galvanized the nation’s resolve. Americans realized at that moment that the United States could no longer remain apart from the world and its threats.
