The Virginia Quilt Museum (VQM) is located in the Shenandoah Valley town of Harrisonburg; the home of James Madison University (JMU). Sometime this summer when you’re visiting the University with your college-bound kid, stop by the VQM to see their fine collection of quilts. Come see the rainbow selection of quilts on display and discover some local history in the bargain.
On display now is an exhibit titled Floral Abundance. This is a selection of fine specimens from the Old Dominion Appliqué Society. In tandem with this exhibit will be a group of “Do Not Touch” quilts from the Shenandoah Valley Quilts Guild. Guest curator: Ms. Loretta Spittle – through 20 JUN 09.
Another exhibit titled Material Images begins June 25th. This will be a fine collection of quilts created by Southwest Virginia quilt artists.
