An Officer and a Gentleman Rhodes Scholar

The Unforgiving Minute: A Soldier’s Education by Craig M. Mullaney is a wonderful first-hand account of a young man’s development from West Point plebe to combat warrior captain. I have read a dozen or so memoirs written by soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors who have fought in the recent Middle East conflicts; Mullaney’s is the most poignant. He’s funny and colorful and he writes beautifully about his travails as a young cadet, airborne ranger, Rhodes scholar, and combat leader. You’ll burst with pride for our men in arms when you read this. He’s the type man ever man wishes he could have been.
