Required Upward Progression of ASA Membership

  1. Applicant
    Submit $100 application fee
    Submit annual dues $440
    Submit copy of college diploma
    Submit three letters of referral
    Submit résumé
    Chapter interview
  2. Associate Member
    Ethics Test
    USPAP Certification Test
    Be current with Society dues
  3. Candidate Member
    Four Principles of Valuation Courses (3 semester hours each)
    Be currently USPAP Certified
    Be current with Society dues
    Must advance in two years or be actively in the process of advancement.
  4. Accredited Member (AM designation and logo authorized)
    Accreditation application fee $225
    College Degree (4 year) or eight years of full-time appraisal experience in addition to the work log
    Successful completion of a Specialty Test – i.e., antique furniture
    Submit Work Log – Justify two years full-time appraisal experience
    One year of experience may be awarded for collateral experience
    Submit two reports for Review to HQ – one insurance and one donation
    Be currently USPAP certified
    Be current with Society dues
  5. Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA designation and logo authorized)
    Accreditation application fee $225
    College Degree (4 year) or eight years of full-time appraisal experience in addition to the work log
    Successful completion of a specialty Test – i.e., antique furniture
    Submit Work Log – Justify five years full-time appraisal experience
    Submit two reports for Review to HQ
    Be currently USPAP certified
    Be current with Society dues
  6. Re-accreditation requirements
    USPAP re-testing every five years
    One hundred re-certification education credits every five years.
    Credits are awarded for continuing education courses, USPAP recertification, seminars and speeches conducted; articles and books  written; attendance at national conventions, Chapter meetings, and for holding elected office
