Former United States Presidential Democrat Nominee, 1968. I first met Gene when I was a boy. It was at a fun-raising get-together at a family friends’ home in Madison County, Virginia. Years later he became friends with my parents and with me when I opened an antiques mall in the county. Gene would visit fairly often with his girlfriend, Myra, and they would sometimes buy something, and I would deliver it to his country home in an adjacent county. Decoys. He liked to float working decoys on his pond. Very nice man. He insisted that I address him as, Gene.
