1950s MCM Caterpillar BUG Sterling Silver Articulated 6¾”L Mexico brooch lapel pin.
Articulated (that means it moves) stylized caterpillar – insect – bug. The center of the first three segments is stamped ‘925’ and those three are fixed (don’t move). From the fixed element, 12 moveable segments dangle, including a spiked tail. There are various versions of this brooch. It was a popular form. The better ones will have 12 moving graduated (diminishing in size) segments, of which the first eight segments will have each three ball-feet; the remaining three will have two ball-feet each, plus a triangular spiked tail. This one is one of the better versions.
