=RARE= 1880s Large duck’s head paperholder, paperclip, paperweight, heavy cast brass, glass eyes.

The tiny holes in its nape edge are an indicator of it (the clip) once being a terminal ornament to a bag, probably with a drawstring opening and closing aperture. Too heavy for a ladies’ purse. Perhaps a shotgun shell ammo pouch. If I could prove the ammo pouch theory, it would be quite expensive. No way to be sure its original purpose, but it had an original purpose other than ‘paperclip’ — because of the indicator holes.
