“Deiker initially received art lessons from his older brother Christian and then attended Zeichenakademie in Hanau. Together with his brother they owned a studio at Schloss Braunfels. In 1858, he started studying at the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe as pupil of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer. Here he also had his own studio from 1861 to 1864. In 1858 the Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden, the Margrave Max von Baden and the Grand Duke Michael of Russia acquired some of his hunting scenes. From 1864 onwards, he was based in Dusseldorf and from 1865 to 1892 he was a member of artists association Malkasten. Deiker particularly created large-format oil paintings with dramatic animal and hunting scenes and occasional genre scenes. His paintings are now exhibited at the Lower Saxony State Museum in Hannover, at the Oberhessisches Museum in Giessen or at the Fürstliche Fürstenberg Sammlung in Donaueschingen.”
