2030:: Ambrotype Thermoplastic Double 6th plate brown case, D.C. Whitwood Genealogy.
This is a double 6th plate brown thermoplastic case, damaged. Look at the photos. The case is damaged but can be properly repaired. Although the case and even the two ambrotype hard glass images are not particularly valuable, the genealogy might be to a professional genealogist. The same way Bibles are not valuable because there are gazillions of them, but the genealogy logged within them sometimes is valuable, and quite intriguing. Read the closeup pic of the handwriting. The names that I have been able to conclude were:
Surnames: WHITWOOD, FLINN, DEAN.
Given Names: Titus (pic L), Samantha (pic R), Rhoda van, Max, Carrie, D.C., Des.
There was an early comptroller of Detroit, Michigan by the name of D.C. Whitwood. He owned a farm near one of the cemetaries in the city in the 1860s. Later a street was named after him in 1880.
